Carlowrie Castle, an exclusive-use wedding and events venue on the outskirts of Edinburgh, has planted its own truffle orchard. While truffles are traditionally grown in France and Italy, some varieties thrive in cooler climates and the soil conditions in Scotland can be ideal for their cultivation.
Truffles grow on the roots of oak, hazel and beech and the castle’s chefs are planning on serving up home-grown truffles once the fungi are established.
